GEOTEC® and GEOFLAM® smoke extraction and ventilation ducts
Smoke extraction and ventilation :
When a fire breaks out inside a building, fire, smoke and heat are often confined indoors, creating an extremely dangerous environment for occupants. To control and manage these devastating effects, the installation of a smoke extraction and ventilation duct systems is essential. Indeed, the installation of ducts can be the key to protection that will delay the spread of smoke and save lives.
Current standards:
EN 1366-1 VENTILATION / 13501-3 / EIS
EN 1366-8 SMOKE EXTRACTION / 13501-4 / EIS Multi
GEOTEC® and GEOFLAM® smoke extraction and ventilation ducts
A key principle underpins the operation of fire-resistant ducts: a constant flow of air allows toxic fumes and hot gases to be rapidly extracted by fire-resistant smoke extraction ducts, while maintaining a supply of fresh air via fire-resistant ventilation ducts. This strategy limits smoke propagation, improves visibility for occupant evacuation and reduces temperature rise, thus contributing to better protection of people and infrastructure.
By complying with fire safety standards, these systems guarantee effective passive protection, essential for preventing and controlling fires in buildings.
Our GEOTEC® smoke extraction and ventilation ducts are a perfect example of this determination. We manufacture these systems by juxtaposing GEOTEC®S fire-resistant boards. Each board is 1000 mm wide (in 50 m increments) and is available in thicknesses of 30 or 45 mm.
All fire-resistant boards are molded to standard dimensions with a rebate on all four sides for 45 mm-thick ducts, and on two sides for 30 mm-thick ducts, to facilitate assembly.
GEOTEC® fire-resistant ducts can also be made using GEOTEC®SX fire-resistant boards with lengths of 1000 mm and widths of 1200 mm and thicknesses of 30 or 45 mm. These one-size-fits-all sheets have no longitudinal rabbets for easy cutting and assembly.
In addition to their use for smoke extraction and ventilation ducts, our GEOTEC® S fire-resistant boards also offer an effective solution for the protection of carbon fibre plates, as well as for the enclosure of technical ducts, thus guaranteeing enhanced fire safety in a variety of environments.

GEOFLAM® smoke extraction and ventilation ducts are another essential choice for fire protection.
These fire-resistant systems are designed by juxtaposing 35 mm-thick GEOFLAM® F-Light fire-resistant boards, which offer 2-hour fire resistance (EI120), or 50 mm-thick GEOFLAM® FX fire-resistant boards, which offer 3-hour fire resistance (EI180).
The installation of GEOFLAM® ventilation ducts is made easier by the use of the “polochonnage” method (a mixture of GEOPLASTER®, GEOCOL® glue and fiber sisal).
GEOFLAM® F- Light fire-resistant boards are molded to standard dimensions and are rebated on both sides to accommodate ducts.
Similarly, GEOFLAM® FX (100×90) fire-resistant boards are designed without longitudinal rabbets. This greatly facilitates cutting and assembly, which is advantageous for fire conduit installations.
