GEOFLAM® Smoke extraction and ventilation ducts
Smoke extraction and ventilation
In the event of a fire in a building, fire, smoke and heat are confined to the interior of the premises. The construction of a smoke and ventilation system is a crucial step in the control of a fire. This consists of sweeping the space to be cleared of smoke by a flow of air. This means an evacuation of smoke on one side (smoke extraction duct or high ventilation) and a supply of fresh air on the other (ventilation duct or low ventilation) allowing the rescue services to evacuate people and protect them.
The smoke extraction ducts will allow to protect all along the path of a so-called internal fire, the premises crossed while the ventilation ducts will allow to protect the internal volume of a duct from a fire, usual expression “external fire”.

GEOFLAM® ventilation and smoke extraction ducts
GEOFLAM® ventilation ducts are made by juxtaposing GEOFLAM® F-Light 2-hour fire resistant boards (35 mm thick) or GEOFLAM® FX 3-hour fire resistant boards (50 mm thick).
GEOFLAM® ventilation ducts using the same range of boards are installed with the help of ductile blocks (a mixture of GEOPLÂTRE®, GEOCOL® glue and sisal fiber).
These systems are available for fire ratings of EI 120 and EI 180: 2- and 3-hour fire stop, according to the fire rating standards EN 13501-3 and EN 13501-4.
All GEOFLAM® F- Light fire-resistant boards are moulded to standard dimensions, with a rebate on both sides for 35 mm thick ducts, to facilitate their assembly, in the case of 2-hour fire resistant duct installations: EI 120.
GEOFLAM® FX fire resistant boards, of unique dimensions, do not have longitudinal rabbets for easy cutting and assembly, in the case of 3-hour fire resistant duct installations: EI 180.
System advantages
- 2 to 3-hour fire resistance rating
- 100% natural gypsum-based products
- Ease of installation
- Time saving
- Compatible in particular with Rft products
